ART 1010 Drawing Introduction to Art Activity
First, watch the video above for a tutorial on how to draw faces.
Now, go back and follow along with the instructor, drawing either the male or female face. Pause, go back, or slow down the video as needed.
If you have art pencils, use those. If not, a standard pencil is fine. An eraser would also be a very useful tool. You will not be graded on your “artistic skill.” To get full points, you need to have a properly proportioned face, that shows that you made a sincere effort to following the guidelines outlined in the video. Feel free to have fun with it, and customize the face to look however you want.
Abstract Expressionism
Abstract Expressionism was a movement that responded to developments in European modernism by introducing abstraction and non-representational in America. Artists developed different personal styles within this movement. Action painting or gestural painting refers to the artist’s visible traces of movement or action in the painting; color field painting refers to floating veils of color. Choose artworks by two different artists that demonstrate two different personal styles. Describe their distinctive personal styles by applying the visual elements. Compare and contrast the styles of the two artworks.
