The “Story of You” and Resume Organization

Part 1: Begin writing the “story of you,”. Writing your story is a beneficial exercise that prompts student to think about where their current success, past accomplishments and goals. Look at the example of “My Story” on p. 516 in your textbook. Write YOUR story. Use these headings:

Where I Have Been

Where I Am Now

Where I Want to Be

As the textbook states, this is meant to be a personal document that will likely be used to create job search documents. Start by creating the document for yourself. Share with the group the information that you are comfortable posting. Think in terms of what you plan to use in your job search documents.

Part 2: Examine the three main ways to organize a resume. Pay special attention to the Organizing Your Resume Around Your Strength section of the textbook. Select the way you plan to organize your resume based on your goals, background and areas of concern. Share the resume organization that you selected as well as the rationale for selecting that organization style.

Who are you?

Hello Mr. Heckman, my name is David Eugene Ellington. I was born in Dayton Ohio. I am 44 years old, my birthday is on the September 1st, 1975. I have five brothers Willie, Isaac Jr., Micheal, Ander, Steven and one sister Aretha. My mom Annette and Dad Isaac Sr., separated when I was five old.

I am the fifth child, follow by my sister Arether and then my brother Steven. I will talk to you about who I am, where I been in the world, and where I plan on being after I finish my bachelor’s degree. I grow up in Dayton Ohio from 1975 to 1995. I started off in Meadowdale pre-school at the age of four.

Then I went to Carson for 1st to 3rd grade, to Jefferson and Meadowdale for 4th grade. Then finally Van-Cleave school for 5th and 6th I went to Fairview for middle school and went to high school at Patterson co-op and graduated class of 1994. When I went Patterson Co-Op, I studied auto mechanics while I was there.

I really did not know why I chose that occupation because I did not want to keep getting my hands dirty all. I end up living Dayton Ohio and went into the united states military(Army) because I had a baby girl Dayneshia. I was always interested in becoming a soldier, and this was the perfect time to become one.

That was the beginning of my adulthood at the age of 20. I went and seen a lot of places around the world. I started off at Fort Still OK for basic training, next was Fort Drum NY, Schofield Barracks HA, Fort Cambell KY, Kitzingen Germany, Fort Stewart GA, Camp Casey South Korea, and Last duty assignment was Fort Leonard Wood MO. I just retired last year October 8, 2015.

I end up retired and back in Dayton Ohio. For the next chapter in my life. I was just going to go back to work, but I could not find a job that I really wanted to do. And in order to get one that I wanted to do, I had to go back to school. I have been out of school for about twenty years now, and it has changed since high school.

So I went to Sinclair Coummunity College. And reciive my Associate Degree in Busniess Administration. I am continune on to my Bachelor Degree in Logistics because I did some of it in the Army.

Now that I am retired, I feel that it is time for me to pursue college and get the education I need to continue to be a productive member of the United States.

In conclusion, I hope I feel that joining the U.S. Army before going to college was a great choice for me. The life experiences, becoming an adult, and learning how to be a responsible individual were some great lessons that I enjoyed in the military. I was very blessed to have had the opportunity.

Digital Marketing Campaign and Direct Communications Plan

Question two

Develop a direct communications plan to add to your IMC plan for the company or product you are working on in your hypothetical business.

Once we acquire these leads via our digital marketing campaign, we will follow up with phone calls to each potential customer to try and set up appointments for new jobs. We will have a direct mail campaign using our leads. If we close and finish a job for a customer, we will send them follow up emails asking how they like our work and if they would recommend us to anyone. This is where we can get valuable feedback to better improve our business and also gives us an opportunity to rectify and appease any mistakes or disgruntled customers. Again, customer satisfaction is our number one goal. I would also send these same customers we have already worked with targeted emails for referrals for any friends or family with potential commission pay outs as rewards as well.

For customers that have not quite pulled the trigger on working with us, we would also keep as warm leads for our direct mail campaign. Every week or so we would send them follow up emails or automated text messages to try and set up appointments for new jobs. If we end up closing any of these leads then we migrate them over to the list above for existing customers and rinse and repeat. With all this in mind, our email list can be used for follow ups, feedback, reminders, referrals and promotions and will be extremely important for the growth and success of our business and also detrimental in building brand recognition and providing the best possible customer service.

Instructions:

Identify an individual from another culture or co-culture to interview for this assignment. Do consider your classmates and their co-cultures; anyone in class you would like to interview?   (Examples: ethnicity, race, religion, country of origin, age/generation, socioeconomic class, or groups with a common trait, belief, or hobby such as Cosplayer, Trekkie, or Nudist (I indicate these as hobbies only because they are not 24/7… I don’t think). The list are just some options, email your instructor if you need more ideas or feedback on your idea).

Develop 8-10 interview questions that are designed to help you understand the culture. You are not required to ask all of the questions, but you should have a variety of questions to choose from. Your questions should be open ended questions- meaning they can’t be answered as “yes” or “no”.  (Consider some of the content you wrote about in your own Cultural Identity paper- i.e., Hofstede’s and Kluckhohn & Strodtbeck’s Value Orientations)

Set a date and time for conducting your interview, and take notes in response to each question you ask.

Write paper that addresses the paper guidelines listed below.

Paper Guidelines:

3-5 pages, double spaced, Arial or Times New Roman, 11- or 12-point font.

Address the following components:

Name of the interviewee (or pseudonym if the interviewee prefers), and the culture or co-culture to which they belong.

Reasons why you chose the culture/co-culture and interviewee.

The expectations you had going into the interview, and whether they were met.

Summarize the responses given to your questions, and indicate how they illustrate concepts or theories that we’ve addressed this term.

The most valuable lesson about culture that you learned from the interview.

Communications Prevention of Covid 19 Essay

Amid all the chaos that is happening right now with COVID-19, it is very important to be aware of how to prevent yourself from it and keeping yourself and others safe.

According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention), doing things such as washing your hands often for at least 20 seconds if you’ve been in a public place and avoiding close contact is a great way to stop the spread. According to WHO (World Health Organiziation), avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth will also decrease the chance of you getting contaminated with the virus.

Because of all that is happening, I think that our society has become more aware of their hygiene and is more conscious about it.

– Were you already aware about having a good hygiene to prevent other illnesses prior to COVID-19?
– How have you maintained your hygiene to combat this virus?
– Have you learned anything about hygiene since COVID-19 became a pandemic?
– What are some things that you can share with the class that they may not be aware of to improve their hygiene to protect themselves and/or others?
